Zielsverwant at Muziekgebouw 17/18

For the 2017/2018 season I was invited to perform a series of “Wildcard” concerts for the Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ in Amsterdam. Known as the “Zielsverwanten” series, the Muziekgebouw offered me this carte-blanche to program music that I love, with performers who I admire. Of course, the music of Luciano Berio plays a big role in my programming – over the course of the season I will be performing the Sequenza (September 9th, 2017) will have an entire day devoted to his violin duets (January 21st, 2018) and I have also asked for his piece “Visage”, for electronic tape alone, to be included on a concert I am playing on May 10th, 2018. Other works to be performed include Bach’s Chaconne, Ligeti’s violin concerto and horn trio, pieces by Joey Roukens, Kate Moore, and Jan van de Putte, which I commissioned, and many more.

I’m honored to be joined by some fantastic musicians in this series, including Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Marie Luise Neunecker, Reinbert de Leeuw and Asko|Schoenberg, and for the Berio duets, 18 violinists of all ages.
